Across the continent, knowledge lives in hands. How to smoke water. How to coax a grain through a dry season. How to feed a village from a landscape the market has forgotten. This inheritance passes from one generation to the next at the fire and at the table, and it is being lost faster than it is being recorded.

The Midunu Institute exists to keep it living.

The work is built on four questions, and everything the Institute does returns to them:

What do we take forward?

What do we leave behind?

Who is invited to the table?

Who decides?

Food is where culture begins.

The Institute exists so it does not end.

the Founder

The Institute is founded by Selassie Atadika: chef, artist, and food systems strategist; TIME Earth Award recipient; Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Fellow; and author of Gather and Feast (St. Martin's Press, Spring 2027), the book that makes the Institute's argument.

Value at Origin

The Institute opens its founding chapter alongside Gather and Feast in 2027, and founding conversations are already underway, beginning with the works now being brought to life.
